I haven’t written a blog post in a while, so hello and welcome back! I’ve debated writing this post, just a small life update—a little ketchup if you will—because I always assume no one cares. However, that’s an extremely unhealthy way to think, and I’m done softening at my own expense for the comfort of others. If you care, you’re here. If you’re reading this I have to trust that it’s because you want to know how I’m doing. On the other side of the same coin, I also have to overcome that pesky fear of being perceived as vulnerable. So here are some things at the forefront of my mind recently.
The Dandy Warhols– I’ve always been a passive Dandy Warhols fan, Bohemian Like You was my jam when I was like 5 or something, or whenever I got my grubby little paws on my mom’s copy of season one of the Buffy The Vampire Slayer soundtrack. Throughout my life, I’ve accumulated a handful of songs on the big master playlists that I create. But I woke up one day like 2 months ago and decided I was going to go through a Phase and that this was my favorite band in the whole world. A few days ago they posted to Instagram that they were thinking about the northeast, and man when I saw that I almost squealed a little. Then, they announced an entirely northeast tour with 5 NY dates, 3 in the city. I got my buddy Christian hooked on them as well so when tickets went on sale you bet your ass we snatched a couple of those bad boys.
Philosophy- I’ve always been a philosophical person, naturally and as a result of crippling OCD, but it didn’t occur to me until this semester started that I might like to take a class on it. So here I am, taking a philosophy course, 5 days after my 26th birthday, and that’s when I decided that philosophy was the life for me and that I’ll continue to pursue my bachelor’s in the field, slowly but surely. Due to chronic fatigue, I can take a max of 2 courses per semester before I lose it completely and/or burn out so severely that it takes a year or 2 to get back on my feet. But I genuinely enjoy being a student, I love being on campus and I love learning, and I’d much rather be doing that than sitting in my apartment rotting all day every day.
Grand Theft Hamlet- I can’t believe they made a movie shot entirely on GTA Online. And I can’t believe that it’s my favorite Shakespeare play. I’m so excited for this to eventually be streaming somewhere. MUBI specifically, but I don’t have a subscription so if anyone does and wants to let me borrow it to watch Grand Theft Hamlet, let a brother know.

Hieronymous Bosch Tattoo- I’m so excited about this. He’s not finished yet, but I’m getting my favorite area of Bosch’s The Garden of Earthly Delights, which is the Prince of Hell in the bottom of the 3rd panel depicting Hell as a result of the sinning seen in the middle panel of the triptych. It’s also being done by August so there’s no weirdness or anxiety about getting tattoed, I just chill out. Literally. I always forget to bring a blanket when I get tattooed because it makes me super sleepy every time without fail, and when I get sleepy I get really cold.
I Had a Birthday- I’m 26 now but I feel like I’m ancient (physically) and transcend not only age but gender. Canonically I was supposed to have a 7 ft wingspan and glowing red eyes and be made of concrete but the universe decided I had too much life in me to be a gargoyle so it made me a human. A grave mistake. Let’s make this year a good one.
Alright well, that’s all I have to offer today. Hopefully, I’ll think of some more post ideas soon and we can continue our regularly scheduled programming. Have a beautiful day, stay human.
